Veer Narayan Singh (1809–1857) was an Indian freedom fighter and leader of the Indian Rebellion of 1857, also known as the First War of Indian Independence.
He was born in a royal family in Sonakhan, Chhattisgarh, and was educated in Sanskrit and Persian.Singh became the ruler of the princely state of Surguja in present-day Chhattisgarh in 1845.
He was a strong opponent of British rule and had several conflicts with the British authorities in the region.
In 1857, he played a key role in the rebellion against the British and helped mobilize local forces to fight against them.Singh is also known for his role in the establishment of the first Indian National Congress in 1885.
He was a strong advocate for Indian independence and worked towards the upliftment of the marginalized sections of society.Veer Narayan Singh is remembered as a heroic figure in Indian history and is widely respected for his contributions to the freedom struggle.
